University Of Rochester overview

Formed in the year 1850, the University of Rochester is a privately owned and non-sectarian institution. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the New York State Board of Regents, the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc., and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

The 154-acre River Campus, the University’s main academic campus, and the home of the River Campus Libraries, located about two miles south of downtown Rochester by a bend in the Genesee River. The University of Rochester offers graduate programs through William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, School of Medicine and Dentistry, Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences. The much-admired Eastman School of Music houses more than 20 music groups that had given birth to the first wind ensemble of the USA. Other than this, Founded in 1929, the Institute of Optics was the first optics education program in the nation.
