FIU Nurse Practitioner Program Cost

FIU Graduate Nursing and Glades and Hendry counties – two of Florida’s most underserved communities near Lake Okeechobee – are partnering on a pilot nursing education program to create a primary care lifeline for a population in need: rural Floridians.

With $1.39 million from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration, grants up to $20,000 will be awarded to select FIU Adult or Family NP MSN students to participate in the Advanced Nursing Education Workforce – ANEW – Traineeship Program.

ANEW will prepare primary care advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) students to practice in rural and underserved settings through innovative academic and clinical training.

ANEW can also help pay for your education while you engage in a life-changing clinical experience that may shape your professional future and the outlook for primary care in rural America.

Application Period

We have begun accepting applications for the ANEW Summer 2021 semester. The application due date is February 26, 2021.

Why ANEW Matters

Many of today’s 60 million rural Americans are uninsured and live in poverty at even higher levels than what we see in our big cities.

Geographic isolation, lower socioeconomic status and increased health risk behaviors conspire against rural Americans’ ability to get access to primary care providers.

As a future nurse practitioner working to the fullest scope, you can fill this gap to improve and deliver quality primary care for a very real, but often forgotten, population in need.
