University of Oklahoma College of Medicine

Each year, the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine receives over 2,000 applications to their MD program. They interview approximately 300 applicants each year and their typical class has 165 students. Their mission is to “lead health care in patient care, education and research. Through our combined efforts we strive to improve the lives of all people.” To be considered for admission, the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is looking for well-rounded individuals with a competitive GPA and MCAT Score. Founded in 1974, the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine’s mission is ” to provide the best possible educational experience for students through excellence in teaching, research, creative activity and service to the state and society. The OU-TU School of Community Medicine focuses this mission on explicitly improving the health and healthcare of the entire community.” With a team of over 300 physicians and residents, Oklahoma School of Community Medicine is focussed on delivering quality healthcare to underserved individuals in both urban and rural areas.

Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine

 Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s mission is to “educate osteopathic primary care physicians with an emphasis on serving rural and underserved Oklahoma.” OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine is focussed on admitting students who are from Oklahoma and those who want to practice medicine in Oklahoma. In fact, preference is given to Oklahoma residents and therefore most admitted students are from Oklahoma. In order to be a competitive applicant, OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine is looking for individuals with the following:

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.6
  • Pre-Professional Science GPA of 3.6
  • Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) score of 500 or above
