Upon completion of this program, the resident will be able to assume a clinical position in an ambulatory clinic, hospital setting or a faculty position in academia. Because of this purpose, the program was designed to develop clinical practice skills that can be applied to pharmacist-managed, interdisciplinary, or managed care team approaches to patient care. In addition to clinical practice, opportunities are available for didactic and experiential teaching, precepting, and outcomes research with the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education (CMHHDRE). The postgraduate year one residency program includes training in internal medicine, family practice, and medical subspecialties, including cardiology, endocrinology, anticoagulation, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, HIV/AIDS, and pediatrics.
