Villanova University is a private research university located in the historic center of Villanova, Pennsylvania, a census-designated place 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Center City Philadelphia. It was established by the Augustinian Order in 1842, and named after their founder, Saint Thomas of Villanova. The university’s enrollment has grown to over 10,000 undergraduates and almost 5,000 graduate students. Today, Villanova is one of the largest Catholic universities in the United States with an undergraduate enrollment of 2,600 per year and a total undergraduate population of over 8,500 students.
Villanova University is home to both an NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball team and Women’s Volleyball team. The men’s basketball team won the 2018 NCAA National Championship in April 2018 and also won it in 2016 and 2018. The women’s volleyball team has won five national championships as well as ACIII titles in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.[citation needed] In addition to their athletic programs, Villanova University offers over 150 student organizations including 17 fraternities and sororities.[citation needed]

The Villanova University admissions office is currently accepting Early Decision applications for the class of 2021. Applications are due on December 1. Villanova’s Early Decision program allows students who have applied to Villanova to make a binding commitment to attend Villanova if they are accepted.

The Early Decision acceptance rate at Villanova is typically very high, in the high 90% range. In other words, almost all applicants who apply under the Early Decision plan will be accepted by Villanova. In fact, since 2000, the university has never had an Early Decision acceptance rate below 89%.
Early Decision Deadlines and Requirements
Early Decision applicants must complete their applications by December 1 and submit an $80 nonrefundable application fee by this deadline as well. They must also submit two letters of recommendation from teachers or guidance counselors and one letter from another member of the community such as a coach or religious leader.
