USC psychology graduate program

Founded in 1955, USC Dornsife is the only privately funded, comprehensive center for graduate training in clinical psychology, positive psychology, mental health counseling, research methodology and behavior analysis. All of our programs are APA-accredited, excellent training opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in psychology.

USC has a reputation for offering an elite education at a world-class university with abundant resources and opportunities; we specialize in the undergraduate and graduate psychology degrees. Our Psychology Master’s program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Our students come from all different career directions and career goals, however there is one common theme: they know USC is their best fit.

The USC Psychology Master’s program has stringent requirements, making it one of the toughest institutions in the nation to gain admission into. Students applying for the grad-only degree must first be accepted into the undergraduate College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and then select a major within that school. The Psychology Department accepts 16 students per year; these students will be placed on a new track as they move through their undergraduate degree.

The overall goal of this department is to provide students with the experience of one of the top ranked and best psychology programs in the country. In 2010, USC became one of the first ten clinical science programs receiving accreditation from the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS). The department offers an innovative free-standing masters degree program, the Master of Science in Applied Psychology. This program is unique in that it teaches students psychological principles and research methods at the intersection of theory, research and practice in business settings.

The research project involves a review of relevant literature leading to a research question, design and conduct of an appropriate study, data collection and analysis, and preparation of a thesis consisting of the literature review and a report of the research study. The thesis is assessed by independent examination. Visit Study Psychology for more information.
