Most universities will have an entry requirement for a PhD studentship, but this varies from course to course. Entry requirements will vary from course to course and from university to university. Research departments and universities sometimes specify a minimum grade for the honours degree you are holding, sometimes they expect a high 3:2 or sometimes, no prerequisite at all.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
You will need to provide a number of supporting documents with your application. These documents vary from course to course, but usually include:
- A reference.

- If English is not your first language, evidence that your command of English meets the standards required for postgraduate study (you’ll usually need an IELTS score of 6.5 or the equivalent).
- If you live outside the EU, we’ll need to see a copy of your passport and student visa.

The earlier you supply these documents, the sooner we can process your application. If you have not yet finished a course that relates to your application, please send us copies of your transcripts and certificates (once you have taken your exams) so we can update your admissions record.
AFTER YOU APPLY
We will contact you once your application has been received and a decision has been made. This is usually within a few weeks of receiving your application.
ACCEPTING YOUR OFFER
If you receive an offer to study with us it will either be conditional or unconditional. An unconditional offer means you have already satisfied the requirements for entry and we accept you as a student. A conditional offer means there are some outstanding terms you need to meet before we can accept you as a student. The conditions of your offer will be detailed in your offer letter. If you are waiting for exam results and need to supply copies of academic certificates, please contact us, stating your full name and date of birth, on [email protected].
