The University of Regina is nationally and internationally recognized for academic and research excellence. Home to 10 faculties and 25 academic departments with programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, the University of Regina is quickly becoming the university-of-choice for students across Canada and beyond. The University of Regina has a rich heritage spanning more than 100 years. It was established in 1911 as a private high school. In 1974, it was announced as an autonomous body. The university has 15,000 students. The university offers 41 programs in over 15 disciplines which include business administration, social work, health, Engineering, media and many more.

It has a famous theatre named Darke hall. The Wascana Campus has apartment-style residences which can house 1200 students. The university’s athletics teams are called as Regina cougars, only the football team of the university is called Regina Rams. The university is placed in the capital of Saskatchewan province of Canada in Regina.

The city was previously known as Wascana but was later changed to Regina (queen in Latin) in honor of Queen Victoria. You can go for a stroll around the Wascana lake and also visit the Wascana Centre. Art lovers will surely love the Conexus Arts Centre (theatre), and the University of Regina is located just off the Ring road at the corner of Parkway of Wascana and Kramer Boulevard, in south-east Regina. International students from about 90 countries are studying in this university.

The University of Regina works with more than 100 Institutes from 27 countries. It has 149 agreements with these institutes. The student to faculty ratio is 20:1 The University provides placement assistance to its students through a career center which conducts career fairs, does academic advising and has a U of R job board. It has a co-operative Education Work experience program which enables its students to earn while they learn and students can earn up to 10 million.

The university endowment fund has a healthy value of 86.1 million Dollars. The University of Regina boasts of a 74,000 strong Alumni. Some of its notable alumni include Akiem Hicks (American footballer), Jhon Hewson (Australian politician), Jonathan Denis (Canadian Politician), Robert Boyer (visual artist), Elizabeth Raum (music composer). Research

The University is home to more than 400 active researchers, including faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and seven Canada Research Chairs. The Office of Resource Planning gathers information and provides research, statistical and analytical expertise to support decision-making, policy development and planning at the University of Regina. The responsibilities of the Office include:

– annual and term statistics about students and courses;

he Archer Library can trace its origins back to the early part of the twentieth century as a small, unorganized collection of books for Regina College, a residential high school opened by the Methodist Church in 1911. Recent campus growth is built on our history and a commitment to sustainability.

Completed in 2008, our Research and Innovation Centre received national attention from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada when it was profiled as an example of excellence in functional design in Award, the Magazine of Sustainable Architecture, Construction and Design.

In 2011, the University launched the College Avenue Campus Renewal Project – an ambitious plan to revitalize the architecturally and culturally significant buildings on College Avenue, ensuring a vibrant centre of learning, research and culture remains in the heart of downtown Regina.

There are numerous clubs on campus as well as several events put on each school year. Our campus is situated in the stunning natural landscape of Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks in North America. Walking paths, picturesque views, picnic tables, greenery, and birds are abundant. Our students can walk, run, paddleboard, picnic, snow shoe, and bike around Wascana whenever they want! It truly is the jewel of the city.

UNIQUE PROGRAMS
Our Faculty of Arts is one of only a handful of Canadian faculties to offer an undergraduate program in philosophy, politics and economics – an internationally-acclaimed designation offered by major universities including Oxford and Yale.

UNIVERSITY OF REGINA INTERNATIONAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPThis award provides up to $200,000 annually. $3,000 is automatically awarded to undergraduate students on a Study Permit who are applying for admission directly from a secondary school (or equivalent) into a direct-entry undergraduate program. Students must have an early-conditional admission average of 85.00% or higher and be enrolled in nine credit hours in the semester the award is presented.

UR CIRCLE OF SCHOLARS ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPThis prestigious award is given to the top three students in three specific regions identified annually throughout the world.  Assuming the student meets the criteria each year, they will receive automatically $5,000 each school year for up to 4 years!  In addition to the financial assistance, these students will be invited to meet with the President of the University of Regina each year for a Circle of Scholars event. Students entering an Undergraduate Degree in the Fall Semester, will be automatically eligible for this award. Please note that there is specific criteria for this award.

The University of Regina has extended the Undergraduate International Student Welcome Solidarity Scholarship and Housing Support to new undergraduate international students who will pursue their academic journey with the University of Regina starting from Winter 2021 term or Spring/Summer 2021 term.   • New students that register for only the Winter 2021 term or only for the Spring/Summer 2021 term will receive a $1,000 CAD tuition credit upon arrival and registration in the Fall 2021 term
  • Students that register for both Winter 2021 term and Spring/Summer 2021 term will receive a $2,000 CAD tuition credit upon arrival and registration in Fall 2021 term
  • Students that register for both Winter 2021 term and Spring/Summer 2021 term or only Winter 2021 term will a receive a $2,000 CAD credit towards the on campus housing rent for Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 terms ($1,000 CAD per term)
