Courses

The University of Newcastle is a public university in Australia. It was founded by the Commonwealth of Australia in 1965. It has a student body of more than 27,000 students with almost 16,000 enrolled at postgraduate level. The University of Newcastle offers more than 100 programs with over 1000 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and certificate levels. The popular areas of studies in which these courses are available range from Accounting, IT, Business and Entrepreneurship to Creative Industries and Culture of Society.

It campus is located in the suburb of Callaghan, which is about 7 km away from the city centre of Newcastle. The campus covers 65 hectares and has facilities like libraries, lecture theatres, gymnasiums, recreational areas, sports fields, student accommodation and cafes among other things. The university’s library is named Auchmuty Library after the original chancellor Sir Bede Auchmuty.

In addition to its main campus in Callaghan; it has three other campuses: Newcastle City Precinct Campus, Ourimbah Campus and Port Macquarie Campus. All these campuses are connected through online learning methods for both students and faculty members who are unable to be physically present at any one campus.

Scholarships/ Financial Aid

  1. Golden Jubilee Commemorative International Scholarship 

Amount: 140,000 USD.

Duration: up to 5 years.

Deadline: December 13, 2019.

Eligibility: 

  • A current student of the University of Newcastle enrolled in an undergraduate program with the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment is eligible for this scholarship.
  • The aspirant should be enrolled full-time at Callaghan Campus and must not hold access to any other scholarship.
  • Academic achievements and the written statement submitted by the seeker play a vital role in receiving this award.

Postgraduate tuition fees are payable for each year of your programme of study and can vary from stage to stage according to your programme of study.

Newcastle University charges tuition fee by academic year. If you begin your studies mid-year, you need only pay the proportion of your tuition fee due to cover the period to the end of the academic year. You should also expect that the fee due in September, at the start of the next academic year, will be higher than in the previous year, due to an inflationary increase.

Undergraduate Students

You will be charged to register and attend a repeat year or part year of study, as follows:

  • If registering to repeat more than 60 credits in the academic year you will pay the appropriate full-time fee
  • If registering to repeat 60 credits or less in the academic year you will pay the appropriate fee for the number of credits taken

Postgraduate Students

If you are repeating a year or part year of study you will pay the annual fee on a pro-rata basis. This fee will be based on the number of credits you are repeating, measured as whole modules. If you are repeating only part of a module, you will be charged the entire module fee.
