The University of Amsterdam is a public research university located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The university is organized into seven faculties and employs around 6,000 academic staff. The University of Amsterdam has three major campuses: the smaller “Buitenveldert” campus, located in the southern neighborhood Buitenveldert; the larger “Kalverstraat” campus, located in the centre of Amsterdam; and the TU/e-campus, located in Delft.

The following are the criteria for admission into the University of Amsterdam’s bachelor’s degree programmes:

Candidates whose first language is not English are required to take a test for entry into one of our English language pre-sessional courses before being considered for admission.

Candidates whose primary education comes from outside Europe (including Australia) will need to pass an exam conducted by their country’s representative office or consulate. This test determines whether they can be admitted to study at a Dutch university without additional preparation or entrance exams.

The University of Amsterdam is one of the most respected universities in the Netherlands and has been listed as one of the top 100 universities in the world by Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The University of Amsterdam offers students a wide range of courses, including multiple psychology courses. The Bachelor’s in Psychology at UvA is taught in English, but it is important to have a good grasp on Dutch before you apply.

The Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UvA requires you to complete 120 ECTS points. You begin your studies by taking introductory courses in both social and cognitive psychology, as well as statistics and research methods. As you progress through your degree, you will study more advanced topics such as social cognition, developmental psychology and higher cognition. You will also take elective courses that allow you to specialize in areas such as cognitive neuroscience or criminology.

Entry Requirements for UvA Psychology

Applicants must have completed an IB Diploma before starting their studies at UvA. The Diploma can be obtained from any school certified by IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization), including schools outside of Europe and North America. In addition to this, admissions officers look for excellent grades from previous years of high school
