Umich Acceptance Rate 2019
If you’re looking at UM’s acceptance rate for this year and wondering how it compares to last year, you’re in luck! We have current data for every year since 2012.
In addition to an overall acceptance rate, UM publishes its admission rates by race, ethnicity, and gender. The most recent data from 2018 shows that the university’s admission rate for Asian American applicants was 79%, compared to 63% for white applicants and 50% for Hispanic applicants.
Because UM’s admissions process is need-blind for U.S. citizens and permanent residents who meet certain financial requirements (including an expected family contribution that is less than or equal to $65,000), it may be difficult to compare these numbers with those of other colleges and universities that are not need-blind. However, if you compare each individual category (such as “Asian American” versus “White”), UM looks like a pretty good option regardless of your race or ethnicity – even if you don’t qualify for need-based aid!
The University of Michigan acceptance rate for the 2019-2020 school year was 29.6 percent, which means that about 30 percent of applicants were admitted. The overall acceptance rate was 35 percent, which is up from 34 percent last year.
