The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), is a public research university in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. It became the Southern Branch of the University of California in 1919, making it the second-oldest undergraduate campus of the ten-campus University of California system. It offers 337 graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines.[6] UCLA enrolls about 31,000 undergraduate and 13,000 graduate students[7] and had 119,000 applicants for Fall 2016,[8] including transfer applicants, the most applicants for any American university.[9][10][11]

UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture recently announced that they will be opening their dance program to a new major. The program will be accepting applications starting in September of 2020 and will require an audition. It is expected that there will be a very high acceptance rate due to the program being so new and limited spots available. The current dance major has an acceptance rate of 40%.
UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance was founded in 1979 by Professor Emerita Yvonne Rainer, who was also the first director of the school’s graduate program in dance. The department offers undergraduate majors in dance performance and choreography, music theater performance and choreography, theater arts (dance), and interdisciplinary studies in dance.
The UCLA Dance major acceptance rate is a bit lower than the average acceptance rate at UCLA. The dance major has an acceptance rate of 17.9%. This means that the majority of applicants who apply to the dance program at UCLA are accepted.
In addition to this, the school also has a very low dropout rate. In fact, only 1% of students who began as freshmen in fall 2015 transferred out or withdrew within their first year of study.
