U.C. Merced is a public research university in Merced, California, United States, and part of the University of California system. The university is one of only two UC campuses serving the San Joaquin Valley (the other being nearby UC Davis), as well as one of only five UC campuses outside the original nine-campus system with an undergraduate enrollment of at least 10,000 (along with UCLA, UCSD, UCSC and UC Irvine). The university has satellite campuses in Fresno and Los Angeles.

The university offers 86 undergraduate degree programs and 33 graduate degree programs through six colleges: Agriculture; Business Administration; Engineering; Education; Humanities and Social Sciences; Natural Sciences; and Social Ecology. As of Fall 2018, the university had 4,816 students enrolled for the fall semester.

In Fall 2016, Uc Merced opened its new campus on West Hwy 59 in Merced County with $200 million worth of renovations. The school’s new facilities include eight buildings that house classrooms, labs and offices for faculty and staff members who will teach classes on campus or conduct research there.

The University of California, Merced (also known as UC Merced and UCM) is a public research university and one of the 10 campuses of the University of California system. The main campus is located in unincorporated Merced County, California, United States, near Merced, approximately 120 miles (190 km) north of Fresno, 70 miles (110 km) northeast of San Jose, and 45 miles (72 km) south of Modesto. The university offers 128 bachelors degrees, 97 masters degrees, 3 doctoral degrees through the 10 colleges.

UC Merced opened on a site that was once part of Castle Air Force Base. It is directly adjacent to the City of Merced, which has a population of about 100,000 residents. It is about 72 miles from San Francisco on Interstate 580 between Oakland and Los Angeles; about 40 miles from Modesto; and 95 miles from Sacramento. The university has an annual budget over $500 million, including $140 million in sponsored research grants from federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation, Department of Defense and Department of Energy.
