For over a decade, Texas Southern University School of Law (TSU) has been dedicated to preparing students for success in the legal profession. Located in Houston, Texas, our law school provides access to legal education to those who might not otherwise be able to pursue it—including minorities and economically distressed segments of society—providing top-caliber opportunities for students to graduate at the highest levels of academic achievement.
If you are trying to get into law school, you might have your eye on Texas Southern University. TSU Law is one of the 76 law schools in the nation with a race-conscious admissions policy, and they are proud to be that way, too. They even have an entire sub-section on their website dedicated to diversity and inclusion. If you want to be a part of that diversity and inclusion, then you’re going to want good stats like they have…
Let’s be honest. Despite the fact that Law School is no walk in the park and can potentially transform you into a lawyer, it isn’t for everyone. If you’re anything like me, with an otherwise high GPA and LSAT score, the idea of law school may seem farfetched. But what if there was a university only an hour away from Houston with a relatively high acceptance rate? Texas Southern University has a student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1 with over 70% of freshman returning for their sophomore year.

There are times when it is better to avoid the internet, which often offers inaccurate information. This is partly due to the large amount of unreliable information on the internet. The Thurgood Marshall School of Law is an ABA accredited law school in Houston, Texas, that awards J.D. (Doctor of Jurisprudence). It is part of Texas Southern University. Its history can be traced back to a 1946 lawsuit brought by Heman M. Sweatt. The Texas Constitution mandated separate but equal facilities for whites and blacks. Mr. Sweatt was refused admission to the University of Texas School of Law because he was black. In order to pre-empt possible success by Mr. Sweatt, the legislature passed Texas State Senate Bill 140, which established a university to offer courses of higher learning in law, pharmacy, dentistry, journalism, education, arts and sciences, literature, medicine, and other professional courses. It opened in 1946 as the “Texas State University for Negroes,” and later changed its name in Texas Southern University in 1951.Thurgood Marshall School of Law has been ranked number one in achieving diversification in its student body.
