The Industrial Engineering program was established in 1960 as the first Engineering program at St. Mary’s, and is the only industrial engineering program in San Antonio. Industrial engineers apply mathematical methods, practical design and other creative problem solving techniques to improve efficiency and productivity in the manufacturing and service industries.

Industrial engineering focuses on reducing wasted resources such as time, money, materials and energy by both designing and optimizing complex processes, systems and organizations.

Industrial engineers gain a wide range of skills so they can work in both technical positions and management. They minimize costs and maximize efficiency for the benefit of the companies they work for and the customer.

  • Degree Plan St. Mary’s University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.
    • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Combined Degree Option The Department of Engineering also offers a unique five-year combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Industrial Engineering program.
