Motivation Letter For Admission to Master’s Programme

Dear Sir/Madam

My name is ——————- and I am from Pakistan and have done BSc (Hons) in Economics and Mathematics from the ————————- Pakistan. I am writing to request you please consider me for admission at ——————-  University, England. I have enclosed the completed application and additional materials required by the university.

BSc (Hons) in Economics and Mathematics provided me with a strong base in the field of Economics. Mathematics and statistics are key tools in many aspects of economics. I have taken mathematics courses like calculus, analysis, and linear algebra during my undergraduate degree programme. I can apply mathematical methods, through modelling and large-scale data analysis. The ideas and techniques of calculus and linear algebra have been implemented in economics and other fields. I can understand the fundamental economic principles and can apply these ideas to analyze public policies, business practices, and real-world events. The four-year course has helped me to locate the necessary data to analyze and evaluate world events, and analyze data using appropriate econometric methods. I can conduct scholarly and nonacademic work professionally and ethically.

After completing the Master’s degree in Economics and Mathematics, I would get knowledge and understanding of the mathematical concepts and methods used by professional economists. The Master’s degree will facilitate me to express economic ideas in the language of mathematics. I would gain expertise to analyse economic models by using formal mathematical methods. My central aim through this Master’s course is to increase mathematical maturity, confidence and familiarity with the types of problems that will be encountered and built upon later. I would be able to use appropriate techniques to solve problems with calculus and linear algebra, Model economic questions as mathematical problems.

On successful completion of this course, I would be able to develop analytical skills, organizational skills, develop both independent learning and group work skills, develop verbal and non-verbal communication skills, successfully use mathematics in economics and business applications. Therefore, I would like to get admission to this course, as I consider myself the best candidate. I would wait for the kind gesture from your side.

Thank you for your precious time.

Motivation Letter:

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am eagerly applying for “Master in Methodology and Statistics for the Behavioural, Biomedical and Social Sciences” starting in September 2017. As this master programme covers the theoretical and applied aspects of methodology and statistics, it will certainly be helpful to prepare me for achieving PhD in the same field afterwards and flourishing my career in academia.

I have completed my B.Sc(Hons.) in Statistics from Government College University (GCU) Lahore, Pakistan in 2013 as Gold Medalist and received Academic Role of Honour. I completed a research project in my bachelor entitled “A Comparative and Critical Study of Population, Literacy and Marriage for Pakistan in the Light of Population Censuses 1981 & 1998 and Population Projection”.

To appreciate my outstanding performance in graduation, GCU Lahore granted me full waiver for continuing M.Phil (Statistics); I acknowledged that accolade and have completed one year course work and one research work of M.Phil. Recently, I am waiting for the defense of my submitted M.Phil dissertation entitled “Modified Burr-III Geometric Distribution: Characteristics and Applications” and also expecting to complete the degree among two top.

The Department of Statistics, GCU Lahore encouraged my hard work by providing me the position of Lecturer in Statistics. I am working here since September 2013; Till October 2015, I was involved in teaching of statistics for intermediate and B.Sc(Hons) classes. I have taught Introductory Statistics, Probability and Probability Distributions, Basic Statistical Inference, Applied Statistics, Statistical Packages-I (Excel & SPSS), Non-parametric Methods, Biostatistics and Bayesian Statistics to B.Sc(Hons.) students. I have also supervised ten students of B.Sc(Hons) for their final research projects so far in both applied and pure statistics. And one research project with the students of B.Sc (Hons.) is underway entitled “ The Properties of Truncated Weibull-Inverse-Weibull Distribution”.

On 13th October 2015, I joined Higher Education Department of Government of Punjab as regular Lecturer in Statistics. After getting top position in competitive exams throughout the Punjab Province, I was placed in Government Degree College (B), Shalimar Town, Lahore. Here, I have been teaching intermediate and degree classes of statistics. I have successfully supervised two research projects of master students entitled as “A Note on Lomax-Geometric Distribution” and “The Factors Affecting on Frequently Absent Students”. In pure work, compounding technique was used; in applied work, logistic regression model was developed.

I remained an active member of Statistics Society of GCU Lahore during my stay as a student. I am also serving the same society as co-advisor. During organization of different seminars, poster competitions, statistical day celebrations and alumni dinners, I learned the skills of handling pressure and management.

On December 1st, 2016, in requisition of Department of Statistics, GCU Lahore, the secretary of higher education, government of Punjab, Pakistan has posted me at GCU Lahore. Currently, I am working here as Lecturer is Statistics and is involved in intermediate, B.Sc (Hons.) in Statistics and M.Sc (Statistics) classes. I am also teaching a course, Quantitative Methods, to B.sc (Hons.) in Applied Management students.

I searched online many well-reputed universities of Europe to have the exposure of international master but Utrecht University allures me the most because of its strong and unique programme in Methodology and Statistics which covers the fields of not only behavioural and biomedical but also of social sciences. As its programme is ranked at the top in its field by “Keuzegids Master”, it is also enticing me to study in one of the prestigious universities of the world, Utrecht University. After speaking with students and professors from this university and other universities, I am very much confident of my decision.

Not only having the excellent academic record but also having very good experience of teaching the different courses of statistics from intermediate to master classes at university level makes me distinguish and one of the most suitable aspirants for this programme. Moreover, the experience of working in Statistics Society and involvement in research are also my positive points to be accepting in this programme.

motivation letter for masters in public administration

thank you for your help.

Dear Sir or Madam
LETTER OF MOTIVATION FOR THE MASTER OF PUBLIC POLICY (MPP)

I write to apply for the Master of Public Policy under the XXX scholarship. This program is an opportunity for me to enrich my knowledge and professional outgrowth thereby contributing to the socioeconomic development, democracy and good governance as well as promotion of social justice in Ghana. It is my ambition to be admitted to this post graduate program in order to gain extensive competence for future academic research and professional work. I graduated in 2012 from the XXX, where I was granted Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with Psychology .

Ghana has evolved into a stable and mature democracy throughout the last two decades. The country continues to show good performance on democratic governance, arising from strong civil society activism, growing media pluralism and press freedom, and adherence to the tenets of rule of law. The 2012 worldwide governance indicator placed Ghana between the 50th and 60th percentile on political stability, government effectiveness and regulatory quality, rule of law, control of corruption and accountability. However, the country faces a countless number of social, economic and political problems stemming from policy deficiencies, gross economic mismanagement, and political and institutional corruption. Political leaders at the whelms of affairs only embark on policies that will propagate their populist agendas rather than policies that will seek to find lasting solutions to the problems that hinders Ghana’s socioeconomic and political growth and development. To this end, there is the need for tomorrow’s leaders of Ghana to have analytical knowledge and tools to formulate and implement cogent, viable, and results-oriented policies that will bring about accelerated growth and development in the country.

It is my goal to join the ranks of scholars, professionals and advocates of public policy, who are working tirelessly around the clock to find practical and lasting solutions to the problems stifling Ghana’s goal and target of reaching high income economy and newly industrialized country status. Every country in the world faces some forms of social, economic and political problems. Creative and well educated people are the ones who will play a vital role in resolving these problems. My aim of pursuing a master degree in public policy is to gain analytic and practical knowledge in the field on international ground in order to be a part of the reform process in the development of my country. A Master In public policy from the xxx will be a step that will allow me to make an impact not only in the field of public policy and governance as a scholar, but it will endow me with abilities that will make a difference in people’s lives and also sharpens my professional skills to be resourceful in organizations both public and private in the domestic and international arena. I have nurtured a strong passion to be in academia and as such, to pursue studies to the PhD level, and I am of the conviction that a master’s degree in public policy will lay the necessary foundation required for the pursuit of higher academic knowledge.

I developed particular interest in the subject areas of public administration, international relations and comparative politics during my undergraduate studies for it to serve as a stepping stone to gaining wide range erudition in (comparative) public policy and political economy, so as to be able to employ comparative analysis and approaches to finding practical solutions to Ghana’s developmental problems. In this regard, a top quality Master of Public Policy is almost ‘a must’, and in this respect, xxx is an obvious choice for me. It represents an essential stage of my education which complements well my previous studies and work, but it also opens a lot of new doors and provides opportunities for me to develop professionally and personally to achieve my career goals. My undergraduate studies, guided me in systematic researching, analytical thinking, and information evaluation. I gained a strong academic background in the fields of Public Policy Process in Ghana, Human Resource Development and Management, Politics and Bureaucracy in Africa, Public Finance Administration, Issues in Comparative Politics, and Political economy of Africa’s development since independent. These courses have given me an appreciable foundation in public policy and have motivated me to undertake further studies in the field.

As a public commission for the control and investigation of corruption, ensuring administrative justice (Ombudsman) and protection of human rights, my professional experience with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) as an intern has exposed me to practical cases of corruption, social injustice, and administrative injustice and practical ways of solving such cases. My experience with CHRAJ has sharpened my interest on matters of social justice, democracy and good governance, peace and social development. My work as a Social Studies and Government teacher in Ejuraman Senior High School, has furnished me with foundational skill such as I may need in the pursuance of my academic career, a goal I yearn to achieve. The subjects I thought were very much about discourse on social, political and economic issues affecting my country. Also, my work experience as a teacher coupled with that from CHRAJ has embedded in me such skills as researching, communication, presentation, leadership, organization and time management; traits which are relevant in achieving academic excellence.

In conclusion, I would like to acknowledge that, I am eager to gain experience, improve my skills and broaden my understanding and knowledge on public policy and good governance. I am persuaded that taking part in this program offered by the xxx with its interdisciplinary approach, would contribute to my development as an expert of international repute in the best possible way. I hope to return to my Home country to start a career in academia or work as a research fellow with a think tank. The skills I may acquire through my studies will be an important asset in contributing to Ghana’s development.

Thank you very much for considering my application.

Sincerely
