Prior to program acceptance, all nursing applicants must:

  • apply for acceptance to the college before applying for program admission.  Applying to PTCC is online and is free (apply here).  We encourage applicants to apply to the college early so any course transfer needs can be started and completed in a timely manner
  • complete all general education required courses
  • receive a grade of “C” or higher in all prerequisite courses and obtain a GPA of 3.0 or higher for these courses, and
  • meet a minimum benchmark on an entrance examination
  • apply for and be accepted into the program prior to taking the NURS courses

Program Requirements:

Prior to beginning NURS courses, all students must provide the following documentation

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse license
  • Current CPR for healthcare provider
  • Background study through Minnesota Department of Human Services (NetStudy) including fingerprinting to meet clinical contract requirements
  • Complete physical and immunization forms to meet clinical contract requirements.

Developmental courses may be required depending on educational background and/or assessment scores. Developmental courses do not fulfill graduation requirements and are required as prerequisites for some courses. A student must attain a grade of ‘C’ or better in ALL courses and a final cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to graduate. The requirements of this program are subject to change without notice.
