Pharmacy Technician Entry Level Jobs
A pharmacy technician is a highly trained health professional who works in the pharmacy of a hospital or other medical facility. They are responsible for preparing, dispensing and administering medications according to the instructions of a physician or licensed prescriber. Pharmacy technicians also perform clerical duties such as filing insurance claims and processing payments. In order to perform their job effectively, pharmacy technicians must have extensive knowledge of drugs and their effects on the human body. This includes knowledge about how drugs interact with each other and with different health conditions. They must also have excellent math skills so they can calculate dosages accurately.
According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there are approximately 250,000 pharmacy technicians employed throughout the country today. The demand for these professionals is expected to grow by about 24% between now and 2022 due to an increase in demand for prescription drugs as well as an aging population that will require more specialized medical care.
