Bachelor of Science in Prelicensure Nursing

The BSN curriculum meets the California Board of Registered Nursing’s regulations, the AACN BSN Essentials and the QSEN competencies. The curriculum will prepare graduates to function at a higher level of competence.  Courses will be taught with a unifying theme and students will learn the program concepts, going from simple to complex patterns.

Through a variety of courses in Nursing Assessment, Budgeting, clinical Quality Improvement and Nursing leadership, this degree gives the tools to become leaders in the diverse healthcare field.

An Accelerated Program

The Bachelor of Science in Prelicensure Nursing is an accelerated program of 12 continuous quarters or 3 years.

*Transfer Credits may be granted for General Education and Nursing courses earned from another accredited College. Transfer Credits may also be granted to LVNs and RNs (with an Associate Degree). Applicants must submit their Official Transcripts  along with the Application for Transfer Credit Evaluation Form.

The Bachelor of Science in Prelicensure Nursing is offered only at the Los Angeles campus.

This self-paced, online course is available from ScientaCME, an organization that develops continuing education opportunities for healthcare professionals. ScientaCME holds accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners accepts the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 credit from ACCME-accredited organizations as proof of continuing medical education.


Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training Course

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) offers this free training course for individuals who perform infection prevention and control (IPC) in nursing homes, although all nurses can benefit from the program. Upon completion, participants can identify how pathogens spread, risk factors, and infection prevention practices specifically related to nursing homes.

Learners take 23 modules and submodules that are each 30-90 minutes long, completing around 19 hours in total. Course topics include the infection preventionist role, infection surveillance and outbreak management, infection prevention practices, and antibiotic stewardship.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation designates the CDC as an accredited source of continuing education. The course awards AMA PRA Category 1 credit upon completion.


NIOSH Training for Nurses on Shift Work and Long Work Hours

Advanced Cardiac Life Support – ACLS

The Capital Area School of Practical Nursing is located in Springfield, Illinois. This school offers an accelerated LPN program that will get you out into the nursing field in just nine months. However, all of your courses must be taken on-campus. Classes are between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Unfortunately, at this time CASPN does not offer any courses in the evenings or on weekends. Because of the rigorous learning schedule, it is also advised that you do not try to work while attending this fast track LPN program.

Accreditations: The Higher Learning Commission

At Johnson County Community College, located in Topeka Kansas, you can earn your LPN diploma in just nine months. However, you also have the choice to attend classes part-time and complete this fast-track LPN program in 14 months. The full-time program is offered Monday through Friday and is limited to a total of 32 students. This accelerated LPN course is offered each August. The part-time program fits the needs of those who can only attend classes at night or on weekends and is limited to 24 students. This part-time course requires a June start date. Keep in mind that both programs are only offered at campus locations at this time.
