New York University has a variety of transfer options for students who have completed their associate’s degree at another college or university. The majority of these students enter NYU as junior transfers, but some may be eligible to enter as sophomores.
The following are the requirements for transfer admission to NYU:
You must meet the minimum GPA requirement for your intended major at NYU. Please consult the NYU website, which links to the majors pages for specific information about GPA requirements.
You must submit an official transcript from each institution you have attended and complete a Common Application/ Coalition Application (highly recommended). In addition, please note that you must submit your application by November 1 or January 1 (for spring semester) or October 1 or February 1 (for fall semester) respectively if you would like to be considered for merit-based scholarships. You may apply earlier than this deadline; however, we cannot guarantee that scholarships will be available until after this date.
You must submit SAT or ACT scores taken within the past five years, unless they were taken more than five years ago and you have a 3.5 GPA on all college coursework attempted since then. If you took a CLEP exam in lieu of SAT or ACT, we require official scores from that testing agency rather than our own institution
Nyu Transfer Requirements From Community College
What are the transfer requirements from community college to NYU?
For students who have completed a degree at another institution or who wish to take classes at a community college before transferring, you may be eligible for transfer credit. You can use this information as part of your planning for your studies at NYU.
If you’ve taken courses at another institution that appear on our list of accepted courses, you may receive transfer credit for those courses. The number of credits granted will vary depending on the type of course (core or elective). You must be admitted to NYU before we can determine how many credits will be awarded for these courses.
If you’ve taken courses in a specific major that is not listed below, please contact the undergraduate admissions office at your intended school/college prior to enrolling at NYU.
