Nyu Tisch Drama Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate for New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts is 20%, making it one of the most selective schools in the country.

Including NYU Tisch, there are only 10 schools with an acceptance rate below 25%. The other nine schools are all highly ranked private liberal arts colleges. The lowest acceptance rate among these top 10 schools is Occidental College, which has an acceptance rate of 17% for 2019 applicants.

The difference between NYU Tisch and the other nine schools is that NYU Tisch does not require its applicants to submit SAT or ACT scores. Instead, it uses a portfolio review process that includes both written submissions and an interview with a faculty member or student representative from the school’s theater program.

The portfolio review process is designed to assess students’ artistic potential rather than their academic performance or test scores. As a result, admissions officers are looking for students who demonstrate potential as artists through their work rather than just grades and test scores.

This does not mean that applicants do not need strong grades and test scores to get admitted to NYU Tisch — they certainly do! However, it does mean that applicants who have weaker academic credentials but have demonstrated artistic talent through their work may have an advantage over

The Tisch School of the Arts (Tisch) is an art and design school at New York University. Tisch is dedicated to training students in the performing and media arts, including acting, filmmaking, producing, writing for theatre and film, costume design for theatre and film, and other forms of artistic expression.

The Tisch School of the Arts is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD), a national association of colleges and universities offering undergraduate BFA degree programs in the visual arts. The school has two campuses: one in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village (Tisch Building) and another in Midtown Manhattan (the Tisch building at 6 East 16th Street).

Tisch accepts about 20 percent of its applicants each year — lower than most other top colleges in New York City. The average SAT score for incoming freshmen is 1340 (out of 1600).
