Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń or Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK) – public higher education institution in Poland. UMK began its academic activity in1945. The main building of the university is located in Torun inside an urban campus.

Application process and the cost of tuition. The certificate of prior academic performance along with exam results is required for submission by the admission committee. The academic schedule is divided into semesters. The cost of tuition for the bachelor’s programs is around 3,460 USD per year. Those who wish to get their master’s degree here should be ready to spend at least 4,037 USD per year. Despite the tuition gees being quite low, the students often participate in scholarship programs. The composition of the university. Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń is considered to be a large university, teaching more than 23,000 students. Both citizens and foreigners are able to apply. 1% of all students are foreigners. More than 2000 teachers are employed by the university. The university offers international student exchange programs, made possible by the vast network of partner educational institutions and companies.

Candidates from EU and EFTA may be enrolled on equal terms with Polish citizens, if they fulfill requirements applicable to Polish candidates. That means they are allowed to study free of charge.

Polish Government Scholarship holders are enrolled within mutual agreements between countries and are allowed to study free of charge. The scholarsphips are administered by the Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange – BUWiWM. More information here.

Other candidates are enrolled on the payment basis. Candidate must pay tuition fee, which is not lower than 3000 euro per year. Depending on the field of study and faculty tuition may be different.

Apart from tuition fee each candidate is obliged to pay admission fee (85 PLN or 150 PLN if there are practical exams e.g. Grafika, Malarstwo, Sztuka mediów i edukacja wizualna, Medicine). Admission fee is not refundable.

!Paying the tuition fee without Faculty’s acceptance of a candidate does not guarantee admission to studies!

The invitation letter for VISA will be provided AFTER FULL PAYMENT for the FIRST SEMESTER of studies.

WARNING! Some banks take transfer comission and the amount of transfer is decreased by the amount of the commision. Note that THERE ALWAYS HAS TO BE FULL AMOUNT OF TUITION FEE TRANSFERRED to NCU bank account. Therefore, consider the comission, exchange rates and conversion from your currency to PLN when making a transfer. Otherwise, you will have to compensate for the lacking amount. Lack of compensation equals no invitation letter.

Candidates enrolled to studies are obliged to pay 22 PLN for student ID at the beggining of the academic year.
