I am writing this letter to apply for the doctoral program of Food Science and Technology at the University of California, Davis. I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D. because I believe that it is an opportunity for me to further enhance my knowledge, skills and experience in food science.
Motivation Letter For Phd In Food Science
I have always been fascinated with food and its role in our daily lives from a young age. My mom told me that since I was a kid, I would always ask her where did she buy the snacks we ate at home from? Where did she get our meat from? And why does it look different from restaurant meals? These questions led me to start studying about food and how it is prepared at home. I started doing research on how one could prevent illness caused by improper food preparation techniques in my early high school years. This sparked my interest in science as well as cooking and baking activities which I always enjoyed doing with my friends or family members while growing up.
During my undergraduate studies as an Animal Science major, I took some courses on food microbiology, food chemistry and sensory evaluation that allowed me to learn more about the process of creating safe food products along with their nutritional value before they hit supermarket shelves or restaurant menus. As part of my senior year research project at Oregon State University
I am writing this letter to express my interest in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Food Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under your guidance. I have been working in the food industry for last five years and have an experience of working with a wide range of food products such as dairy products, bakery products, snacks and other processed foods.
During my research training period at the university of Wisconsin-Madison, I was able to explore my interest in Food science and its related fields like food engineering and nutrition. The research training program has helped me gain knowledge about various food processing techniques and applications of these techniques in the food industry. Moreover, my exposure to different aspects of food science through research training has given me an opportunity to develop skills related to quantitative analysis and problem solving.
After completing my undergraduate studies from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (IIT), I worked as a scientist at GlaxoSmithKline PLC., Mumbai for one year before going for my Masters degree at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). During this period at UIUC, I conducted research on “Effectiveness Evaluation Of A Novel Probiotic On Intestinal Health Of Rats” under the supervision
