During the first semester, students in the masters in consumer affairs or sustainable management degree concentrate on the methodical and theoretical basics in consumer affairs, such as research methods and consumer behaviour (18 ECTS) and opt for a course in economics, depending on their existing knowledge, e.g., consumer economics and policy (6 ECTS).

Besides the fundamental courses, students in the MSc in sustainable management and consumer affairs will also complete 18 ECTS in the chosen specialisation and another 48 ECTS through electives (general modules) in semesters 2 and 3. Within the specialisation and the electives, we offer a variety of lectures, seminars, and exercise courses that allow students to shape the programme according to their own interests. In addition, students can achieve up to 12 ECTS through consumer-related project work. It is recommended that students take five modules (30 ECTS) per semester.

The Master’s thesis (30 ECTS) should be written within the fourth semester. Students have the opportunity to combine their theses at TUM School of Management with an internship in a company or (market) research institution.
