ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This Maintenance Operator will be supporting the Maintenance Team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, to increase stability and maintain sustainability of equipment.
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
1.Complete job specific task/checklist accurately.
2.Visual inspection of working environment ensuring safety standards are adhered to and reporting any unsafe conditions to superior.
3.Application of job specific SOP’s and COP’s to ensure housekeeping standards are Upheld.
4.Function efficiently and effectively as part of a team to work towards achieving team Goals.
5.Sensitive on how your actions affect the cost of your team, identify and act on cost saving initiatives.
6.Report all task activities.

Ensures the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals/upgrades and critical spares are replaced
Attends and interacts in & toolbox talks to improve plant safety
Attends and interacts in PDAs and RCAs to improve plant safety and stability
Spot continuous improvement opportunities in own work area
Prepare materials for machining
Set up and operate of CNC machines
Hand tasks – deburring, tapping of holes, cleaning of work pieces
Cleaning of machines and workshop
Formal Education
Grade 12 Certificate and NQF level 2 for grade 2 / NQF level 3 for grade 1 position

Purpose of Job

Key Accountabilities
Responsible for doing mechanical maintenance work on above-ground gas pipeline installations
Responsible for conducting inspections, maintain, repair and fault find on equipment
Installation of and setting up of data loggers to take 24-hour recordings at cathodic protection test posts
Downloading test post data from loggers to hand held units and to personal computer
Liaison with landowners on the performance of the 24-hour recordings functions on their properties
Liaison with the GIS, Planning and other Satellite Operations offices with feedback obtained in the field
Recording of co-ordinates using GPS equipment of the location of mechanical equipment installed in the field
Reporting of gas leaks found on the pipeline
Inspection, cleaning and driving a light motor vehicle and a truck on- and off- road
Recording of feedback on Work orders of tasks completed on the pipeline
Excavate manually (with pick and shovel) to expose – and repair pipeline defects
Mix concrete manually in the field to install pipeline route markers, pipeline signage and pipeline cathodic protection test posts
Hand paint pipeline route markers, pipeline cathodic protection test posts and above-ground pipeline installations
Formal Education
Grade 12 Maths & Science/N3 Engineering Maths & Science.
NQF Level 3 Mechanical Qualification
Valid drivers’ license
