LIRR Entry Level Jobs
The Long Island Railroad (LIRR) is one of the busiest commuter railroads in the country, with over 300,000 riders per day. The LIRR has been operating since 1834 and is owned by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA). This means that you can be part of one of the oldest and largest transit systems in America.
The LIRR employs more than 4,600 people including conductors, engineers, train attendants, mechanics and other professionals. Many of these jobs require specialized training and certifications which are provided by the MTA at no cost to employees.
While some entry-level positions require experience in related fields like construction or manufacturing, many others are available for those who have completed high school education or post-secondary training programs such as community college courses or vocational schools. The LIRR offers more than 100 different jobs ranging from entry level positions such as cleaning train stations or ticket sales clerks to more advanced roles such as engineers or electricians working on trains themselves.
In addition to providing careers opportunities for people looking for full time employment with benefits such as paid vacations and health care coverage; there are also part-time positions available if you only want a few hours per week
