Langone Medical Center College Of Medicine Scholarship

The Langone Medical Center College Of Medicine Scholarship recognizes the achievements of students who have excelled in the classroom and supported their communities.

This scholarship is open to any student pursuing a degree in medicine or related field at the College of Medicine at NYU Langone Health. The recipient will be chosen based on his or her overall academic record, extracurricular activities, commitment to community service, and financial need.

The scholarship will be awarded for $10,000 per year for up to four years.

The Langone Medical Center College of Medicine Scholarship is for medical students and is administered by New York University. In addition, they must provide documented evidence of financial need as defined by their respective schools’ policies regarding scholarships and/or loans; submit at least two letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with their academic performance; write an essay that describes how they would use this scholarship to further their education and future career goals within the field of medicine; submit official transcripts confirming enrollment in an accredited U.S., Canadian or international medical school program with advanced standing toward completion of an MD degree; provide proof that they are not eligible for another major scholarship sponsored by another organization (i.e., AMA Foundation Scholarships)

Requirements

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a current undergraduate student at a U.S. college or university
  • Be in good academic standing with your school
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (with the exception of Puerto Rico)

Scholarship recipients must enroll full-time in a US-accredited medical school within 12 months after graduation from high school, unless they have previously completed four years of undergraduate education prior to applying for medical school.

  • Must be enrolled in a medical school located in the United States.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.

Deadline

The deadline for the Langone Medical Center College of Medicine Scholarship is in March.

Eligible Groups

  • Underrepresented groups in medical education include African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Pacific Islander students.
  • Disadvantaged backgrounds include students who are the first in their family to attend college or those whose parents earn less than $50,000 per year.
  • Rural communities are defined as those with fewer than 50,000 residents. This includes small towns within metropolitan areas as well as rural areas not included in large metropolitan regions.
