Landscape architect entry-level jobs are plentiful and can be found in many different industries. Landscape architects are responsible for designing outdoor spaces, including parks, gardens, roadways and other areas. Entry-level jobs may include designing gardens at retirement homes or parks for children.
Landscape architects work with clients to determine what they want to see in a landscape design. These professionals then create plans based on those requirements, including sketches of the proposed design and measurements of any existing structures that will impact the project. The plans are then submitted to a client who will approve them before they can begin work on the project.

What Does an Entry-Level Landscape Architect Do?
An entry-level landscape architect works under the supervision of senior architects to assist in the design landscapes for various areas. In this career, your responsibilities include designing gardens, playgrounds, college campuses, public parks, commercial buildings, residential areas, and other public spaces. Your duties involve conferring with clients, preparing plans and renderings, reviewing specifications, offering cost estimates, and visiting sites to ensure construction occurs as planned. Landscape architects use computer software and 3D design tools to present models, receive feedback, and make adjustments for the final project. Your goal is to create something that is both functional and beautiful.
How to Become an Entry-Level Landscape Architect
To become an entry-level landscape architect, you need a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from a program accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board. You can focus on classes that involve landscape construction, ecology, site design, urban planning, and surveying, as well as plant and soil science and geology. Before you can use the title “landscape architect” you must earn a license by completing an internship and passing the Landscape Architect Registration Exam. Additional qualifications include creativity, visualization skills, and experience using computer-aided design and drafting software to make renderings and plans.
