The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) is one of the world’s great universities. It’s highly selective and hard to get into, although getting accepted is still pretty challenging even with a 3.1 GPA and 1500 SAT score. But for those who do get in, it can be a great experience.

Is Upenn a good school? Well, it all depends what you mean by “good.” Are they ranked well?Yes, they are. Are they highly respected in the academic community? Yes, they are. Are their graduates successful? Yes, they are. In short, the answer to this question is yes UPenn is a good school.

The University of Pennsylvania, located in Philadelphia, was founded by Benjamin Franklin. The Penn Quakers have more than 25 NCAA Division I sports that compete in the Ivy League, and are noted for successful basketball and lacrosse teams. Penn offers housing in more than 10 College Houses, but many students live in the numerous off-campus apartments and houses available. More than 25 percent of the student body is involved in Greek life, which encompasses nearly 50 fraternities and sororities. The school also offers a number of clubs and organizations, ranging from performance groups like the Latin & Ballroom Dance club to student publications such as the Penn Political Review. Penn works closely with the West Philadelphia area through community service and advocacy groups.

UPenn landed the #13 spot in College Factual’s 2022 ranking of best overall colleges in the United States. The higher ed experts analyzed 2,576 colleges and universities across the nation to determine this ranking. This puts it in the top 1% of all schools in the nation!

University of Pennsylvania admissions is most selective with an acceptance rate of 9%. Half the applicants admitted to University of Pennsylvania have an SAT score between 1460 and 1570 or an ACT score of 33 and 35. However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges and one quarter scored below these ranges. The application deadline is Jan. 5 and the application fee at University of Pennsylvania is $75.
