Introduction
Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is the nodal agency responsible for administration of the Companies Act, 2013 and rules & regulations framed there under. MCA has assigned its job to the Registrar of Companies (ROCs) in different states. In India, ROCs work as a link between Central Government and the companies registered under Companies Act 1956/2013. The primary function of ROCs is to register companies, LLPs and their charges so that general public can know about their existence by using various services provided by them. They also act as an important point for disseminating information on corporate sector to the general public. As a part of its mission to improve governance standards in corporate sector, MCA has adopted e-Governance and introduced several initiatives over years such as e-filing, e-CODS, e-Biz etc. In order to promote innovation among youth and enhance research culture in universities, MCA has started many Internship Schemes whereby students are offered short term training with stipend at its offices located across country. A large number of students participate in these schemes every year under which they get an opportunity to conduct research projects and learn how Government machinery works. I was selected for internship with Ministry of Corporate Affairs through my college Industrial Liaison Officer (ILO). My internship was listed under one such scheme called Lead Initiative where students were required to work on any topic concerning Company Law or Corporate Governance related issues
