6 High School Internships in New Jersey

 

1. Koo Chinese Academy Summer Camp Assistant 

Located in Basking Ridge, this opportunity allows high school students to work at the Koo Chinese learning center assisting counselors with programs and activities and conducting front-desk duties. 

The company is looking for students with a positive attitude who enjoy working with others, especially parents and children. If you’re considering majoring in Chinese language in college, this is an especially good opportunity. The pay ranges from $10.50-$12.00 per hour.

2. New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development

Although applications closed on April 30, this is a great opportunity to keep in mind for next year. There are positions available in many departments such as IT, marketing, and communications. The internship runs June 29-August 7 and consists of 30 hours of work per week. Pay is $15 an hour and the internship is located in Trenton, New Jersey.

3. Rutgers SMART Program

The SMART program is aimed towards minority students who are interested in the health or medical fields. The program provides students access to healthcare professionals and includes programming such as hands-on activities via applied science, math and technology, oral and written presentations, career exploration, and more.

The program runs from July 5-July 30 and is virtual this year due to COVID.

4. Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Student Internship

This internship is open to students who live in Bergen County or go to school there. To earn high school credit, students must contact the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office as well as their school counselor. Interns get hands-on experience working in law enforcement departments.

5. NewBridge Services Free Summer Youth Employment Program

The New Bridge Services offers a summer youth employment program that accepts 35 participants as interns. The interns are expected to attend the program three times a week and learn interviewing, job search skills, resume writing, financial literacy, and stress-management techniques. The program includes job visits and supervised volunteer experiences.

6. Middlesex County E.L.I.T.E. Youth One-Stop Center Internships

This program is open to Middlesex County residents only and offers free remote training for youth not enrolled in another youth or educational training program. The goal of this program is to provide a pathway to full-time employment, with paid training provided and a guaranteed 3-month internship.
