Becoming a notary public in Texas requires a few steps.
Step 1: Obtain an application for a commissioner of deeds form from your county clerk’s office.
Step 2: Complete the application and attach three (3) passport-sized photos.
Step 3: Submit the completed application and required fee of $10 to the county clerk’s office where you reside.
If you are not a resident of Texas, but you work in Texas, you may be eligible to become a notary public by submitting an affidavit of residency form with your application for a commissioner of deeds form.
