Becoming an egg donor is a big decision, and it’s important to have all the information you need before making your choice.
A good place to start is by learning about what makes a good egg donor candidate. You’ll want to be at least 21 years old, have had no history of genetic disorders, and be in great health. If you are over 30 years old, there may be additional requirements depending on where you live.
If you decide that becoming an egg donor is right for you, here’s how:
- Meet with a fertility clinic in your area to get more information about becoming an egg donor. They will ask questions about your medical history, and perform blood tests to check for any genetic conditions that may cause complications during pregnancy or birth. They also want to know if you’ve ever been pregnant before so they can determine whether or not it would be safe for you to become pregnant again during this process.
- Once the clinic has approved your application as an egg donor candidate, they will schedule an appointment where they take another sample of blood from your arm (called a peripheral blood draw). This time the sample will go directly into their lab for testing purposes instead of being sent off for analysis somewhere else first like with what happened when they took
