If you want to become a Yelp Elite, there are some things to keep in mind.
First of all, you need to be active on Yelp and have a lot of reviews. You should always leave at least one star for restaurants, and do not use profanity or be rude when leaving your review. If you have poor service, try to focus on the positives about the restaurant rather than just the negative ones.
Next, participate in events that Yelp organizes. They usually give out discounts or free food for these events, so it’s worth signing up for them if you’re interested in becoming a Yelp Elite!
Finally, make sure that your profile is complete with all of your information listed correctly! This includes your picture, address and phone number as well as any reviews or ratings that have been left by others regarding your own posts or comments on other people’s posts within the community on Yelp itself (which are called “Yelp Reviews” here).

Yelp users interested in becoming Yelp Elite members need to consider a few things before they pursue membership with the Yelp Elite Squad.
There are a few basic requirements you need to meet before you can join, such as making sure you’ve reached the minimum drinking age in the region you currently reside in and are using your real name on your profile.
Of course, that’s just scratching the surface. Yelp Elite members also have to follow a specific code of ethics that includes not working for a Yelp competitor, and not being a business owner or closely affiliated with a business owner.
To become a Yelp Elite member you also have to be an active member within your Yelp community and produce consistent content on Yelp. This doesn’t just exclusively mean writing reviews or adding photos it could also mean answering questions found on Yelp listings, creating public bookmarks that allow users to view your recommendations, checking in to businesses , or using other Yelp features.

1. Grab your iPhone, Android, or tablet and open the Yelp app.
2. Tap the “More” tab in the bottom-right hand corner of the screen.
How do I join the Yelp Elite Squad?
It takes a special Yelper to become an Elite. Frequent, quality reviews and photos are important, but generally being awesome on Yelp doesn’t hurt! If this sounds like you and you meet the criteria below, submit a nomination here for the Yelp Elite Squad Council’s consideration. You can also nominate friends using the same form.
To become Elite, you agree that you
- Are using your real name on Yelp.
- Have a clear photo of yourself on your profile page.
- Are of legal drinking age where you live.
You also agree that you are NOT
- A business owner.
- Closely affiliated with a business owner (e.g., your spouse owns a business, or you are the general manager or social media/marketing manager for a business).
- Managing a Yelp Business Account.
- Working for one of our competitors.
While the Council can’t give specifics on its decision making, it does take into consideration numerous factors when evaluating nominations, including overall contributions, recent activity on the site, and adherence to our Terms of Service and Content Guidelines.
A reminder that accepting compensation (including cash, gift cards, discounts, or free meals, services, or products) in exchange for reviews, or otherwise attempting to leverage Elite Squad membership for personal gain, violates Yelp’s Terms of Service and will result in your Elite status being revoked, the closure of your Yelp account (including the removal of your reviews and other contributions), and other potential repercussions.
Please keep in mind that if you don’t satisfy the requirements above, you will not be able to obtain or maintain Elite status.
