There are some requirements that you’ll need to meet before you can become certified, but once you do, it’s easy to find work. Here’s how: Complete an application with the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). The application requires that you submit a college transcript and a copy of your driver’s license. You’ll also need to provide three references (one professional reference, one personal reference, and one character reference). Take the Substitute Teacher Training Course at an approved institution or online course offered by the ODE (or take another equivalent course). This course will teach you how to manage a classroom and interact with students. The course is free for candidates who apply within 30 days from completing their training program.
