Qualifications for Spy Training
Before you apply to be a special agent, make sure you meet all the qualifications. You must be at least 23 years old, but younger than 37 unless you’re a veteran and meet waiver qualifications. You’ll need a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, some work experience and a driver’s license. In addition, your degree and qualifications should fall under one of four categories: accounting, computer science, language, law or diversified (i.e. any bachelor’s degree plus three years of work experience).
Spy Application Process

After you get the conditional letter of appointment, your application still isn’t finished. You’ll need to pass a few specialized tests before you are officially hired. You’ll be assigned points for each category and must score at least six points total to pass. After this, you’ll need to pass a background investigation, and a medical exam that includes vision and hearing requirements.
FBI Spy Training
If you successfully pass every phase of the application process, you’re testing to become a special agent still isn’t quite over. You’ll need to successfully complete new agent training, a tough 20-week regimen. This will include 850 class hours on cases, firearms training, academics and operational skills. You’ll also need to train for and pass a physical exam that’s even tougher than the one in the application process. When you graduate from new agent training, you’ll officially be a special agent with the FBI.
