How to become a nurse with a kinesiology degree
Step 1: Earn your bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.
To become a nurse, you’ll need to start with your bachelor’s degree. Kinesiology is the study of human movement and how it relates to the body. It’s an interdisciplinary field that combines biology, psychology, anatomy and physiology. The goal of kinesiology is to understand how all these components work together in order to improve performance or prevent injury.
A bachelor’s degree in kinesiology can take anywhere from four years up until six years if you’re working full-time while finishing your studies—and it will cost you approximately $40,000-$50,000 total (including tuition). Step 2: Complete a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing (BSN).
Once you’ve earned your kinesiology degree, you’ll need to continue your education by earning a bachelor’s of science in nursing (BSN). A BSN typically takes four years to complete and requires students to take courses in biology, chemistry, physics and math.
A BSN will help prepare you for the National Council Licensure Examination-RN (NCLEX-RN) certification test. You’ll also gain valuable experience working in a hospital setting during your clinical rotations as part of this program.
Many universities offer online BSN programs as well as traditional residential programs that allow students to live at school for about two years. Some schools even offer accelerated track options where students can earn both their undergraduate and graduate degrees within five years!
Step 3: Complete the required hours of clinical work.
In order to become an RN, you must complete a nursing program. There are many programs that do not require clinical hours. For example, if you have a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or BSNN, then you will most likely be able to register with the local Board of Nursing as soon as they’ve received your transcripts and documentation from the university.
In some states it may be required for you to complete supervised clinical hours before being able to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam; however, some programs offer them within their four-year curriculum so that students can graduate after three years instead of four years. Step 4: Take the NCLEX-RN exam.
