How to get recruited by Grove City College Football

Most college Football coaches don’t respond to unsolicited emails. It’s important you build a relationship with the coaching staff. This is one of the ways SportsRecruits can help. You can certainly start by filling out the Grove City College Football’s recruiting questionnaire and getting on their list, but that’s only the start. To get actively recruited, a college coach needs to see you compete, which is why it’s important to have an online athletic recruiting profile. High school student-athletes have a discoverability problem. And discoverability is the key to college exposure and recruitment. Just having a recruiting profile doesn’t guarantee you will get recruited. You need your profile to showcase all of your academic and athletic achievements, and be able to instantly connect to college coaches who are interested. If you can’t quickly find and message any college coach you want, then you’re not solving your biggest problem in getting recruited for Football. The Head Coach of Grove City College Football is Andrew DiDonato – make it as easy as possible for them to learn about you as an athlete, and be able to start a conversation with you. 100% of college coaches and programs are on the SportsRecruits platform. What do I have to do to qualify for need-based aid?

Students are required to complete the Grove City College Financial Aid Application to be considered for need-based aid. The application may be submitted electronically or via hard copy, and the supporting documents requested may be sent via mail or email.

Do I need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) since Grove City College does not participate in any federal aid programs?

The FAFSA is not only used in obtaining federal aid but is generally also a requirement when applying for financial aid from non-federal public sources (such as state grants) in which the College may allow its students to participate. Be sure to check with the specific aid source to determine their application process. The online FAFSA application is significantly faster to complete and process than the paper application.

Which financial aid applications does Grove City College require?

U.S. Residents: Complete the Grove City College Financial Aid Application. The application may be submitted electronically or via hard copy with the supporting documentation listed on the application.

International Students: If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you must complete the Grove City College International Student Financial Aid Application.

Since Grove City College does not accept federal aid, is there a list of aid that is not accepted?

Grove City College does not accept nor does it certify the following:

  • Any loans under the Federal Direct Loan Program (student or parent programs)
  • Perkins Loan Program
  • Pell Grants
  • Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarships
  • Academic Competitiveness Grants
  • TEACH Grants
  • SMART Federal Grants
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
  • Federal Work-Study
  • President’s Service Challenge Scholarship through the Corporation for National and Community Service (also known as AmeriCorps Scholarship)
  • Paul Douglas Teacher Scholarships
  • National Science Scholars Program Scholarships
  • National Academy of Science, Space, and Technology Grants
  • Presidential Access Scholarships
  • ROTC Scholarships
  • Educational benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Assistance through the Office of Health and Human Services (such as grants from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation or the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services)
  • Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) Funding
  • Any other scholarships or loans that may be construed as providing direct or indirect federal aid to the College

The College does not allow any student to register for classes if the College is aware that the student has accepted or received federal financial aid for that semester.

GI Bill

Grove City College has carefully reviewed the legislation pertaining to the New GI Bill, a package of educational benefits available to United States veterans and their dependents. Unfortunately, the College can find no way to accept the benefits offered in this legislation without submitting to the government control that is a requirement for participation in the program. Therefore, Grove City College is unable to certify eligibility, receive funds, or otherwise participate in this program.

When are my financial aid applications due?

The Grove City College Financial Aid Application is due with supporting documentation in the Office of Financial Aid on April 15 of each year regardless of admission status. Note: If April 15 falls on a weekend, the application is due the next business day by 5 p.m.

For the FAFSA, refer to the FAFSA instructions for the due date required by your state of residence.

In order to receive need-based financial aid, do I have to apply every year?

Yes, in order to receive need-based financial aid, you must apply every year.

My parents can’t or don’t support me. Does this mean I am an independent student?

Not necessarily. If your parents simply can’t afford to help you, that may be evident when we review your application, and you may be eligible for substantial financial aid.

A parent’s unwillingness to provide support does not, in and of itself, automatically make you “independent.” Unless you meet one of the conditions listed below, it is likely that your parent(s) will need to provide information on your financial aid applications. If there are extreme circumstances that make it impossible for you to expect support from your parents, we suggest that you call us to explain your situation.

For the purpose of financial aid, Grove City College defines an independent student as someone who:

  • Is or will be 24 years old by January 1 of the academic year
  • Is an orphan or ward of the court until reaching the age of 18
  • Is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • Is a graduate or professional student
  • Is married and/or has legal dependents (not a spouse) for who they provide more than 50% of the financial support

My brother attends another university and applied for financial aid last year but didn’t receive any aid. Is it worth it for me to apply for aid this year?

Absolutely! And your brother might want to consider applying again as well. With two family members in college, there is an increased chance that one or both of you will be eligible to receive some financial assistance. Also, costs and financial aid policies vary by school and may result in aid being available to you due to that reason alone.

My parents are divorced, and I live with my mother and step-father. Is my step-father required to supply his information on the financial aid application?

Yes. There are two items to be particularly considered: First, you need to report your parent’s marital status as “married.” Second, your mother and step-father must both supply their financial information (income from work, investments, etc.) when you complete the Grove City College Financial Aid Application. Without this information your application will not be processed.

My parents are divorced. I live with my mom, but my dad claims me on his taxes. What do I do?

Only the custodial parent (parent with whom you lived most in the last year) is required to supply the necessary financial information. In your situation, complete all parent financial aid questions using information about your mother.

Does Grove City College offer athletic scholarships?

The Wolverines compete in the NCAA Division III level and therefore are not permitted to offer athletic scholarships or preferential treatment to athletes when awarding financial aid.

What should I do if my family’s financial circumstances change after I apply for financial aid?

If your family’s financial circumstances have changed due to death of a parent, divorce, separation, loss of employment, etc., contact the Office of Financial Aid Office at 724-458-3300 to discuss your situation.

Will any outside scholarships that I receive reduce the amount of financial aid Grove City College offers me?

Outside scholarships will not decrease the amount of aid offered by Grove City College unless the total amount of aid exceeds the cost of attendance.

Are loan options available?

We accept any privately insured student loan. In addition, we offer the Grove City College Student Loan, owned by PNC Bank and serviced by American Education Services. Students may obtain up to $12,000 through the Grove City College Student Loan during their first year of attendance. A credit worthy co-signer may be required.

Are there student employment opportunities?

Approximately 1,000 students work on campus each year. Interested students should complete the Student Employment Application in myGCC. Freshmen may work up to 10 hours per week. Returning students may work up to 20 hours per week. Student employees receive a monthly paycheck for hours worked.

How is Grove City College’s pricing model different than that of most other schools?

Being committed to transparency in our pricing, we set our tuition at what it actually costs to educate a student, avoiding the problematic practice of unfunded tuition discounting. Our initial price is low, and from there we offer need-based and merit-based aid that is fully funded by the College.
