Georgia Southwestern State University - Profile, Rankings and Data | US News Best Colleges

So many online MBA programs these days are asynchronous, meaning students can do their coursework at any time. There’s no need to show up or log in to make it to class at the same time each week. Instead, whether it’s Monday at 8 pm or Saturday at 5 am, students can work on earning their degree. But just because students aren’t physically together doesn’t mean connections with classmates and faculty can’t be built. Whether it’s through online discussion boards, synchronous class times that some programs call for, or in-person orientations, schools offering online MBA programs make it a point to help students get connected both for their educational success and for future networking opportunities.

Some programs in this best Georgia online MBA program ranking can be completed sometimes in as little as 12 months. Others take 18 or 21 months. Most allow students up to five years to complete their degree. These accelerated timelines, or the gift of an extended timeframe, help students fit their online MBA program into their already busy lives. The benefit of being able to complete an MBA program in just a year or two while balancing working full- or part-time and managing all the other aspects of life finds a considerable bonus to the online format of these MBA programs. It also should be noted that many of the programs in this ranking actually prefer or require its students to have at least a few years of professional working experience. And for those who work while in school, there’s a great benefit to being able to immediately apply what was learned in class to a business situation the next day.

It is also where you can find Delta, Chick-fil-a, Mercedes-Benza, Coca-Cola, and UPS’ headquarters, among many others. For graduates of online MBA programs, Georgia is a hotspot of business opportunities. In fact, it’s home to 18 of the 100 Fortune 500 companies. Here are some of the largest employers in the state.

The Home Depot is a Fortune 500 company that also happens to be the largest home improvement retailer in the world. Headquartered just outside Atlanta, the company employs over 400,000 employees, though on average, they tend to stay at the company for just over two years. The company makes over $100 billion annually.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia Pacific is one of the largest makers and distributors of paper, toilet paper dispensers, tissue paper, and other related items in the world. Smaller than The Home Depot, Georgia Pacific employs around 40,000 and has a revenue of $35 million. Most employees stay, on average, for almost five years.

The Coca-Cola Company, best known for its Coca-Cola drink, was founded in Atlanta in 1886. The company is a multinational corporation that makes and sells a variety of beverages. The company has a decent retention rate of over three years, on average, for its 60,000-plus employees. It has a revenue of over $30 billion annually.

Georgia is also home to Emory University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, among many other institutes of higher learning, making education one of the state’s largest industries.

Living in Georgia
For those online MBA students who are also Georgia State residents, there’s a lot to say about life in the Peach State. The state’s cost of living is ranked at 91.3 out of 100 by U.S. News & World Report, putting it at #18 in terms of the most affordable states in the country. The median income in the state is below the national average, however, at under $60,000. It also has a job growth rate of over 2%, which is a fair bit higher than the national average. The median price for a home in Georgia is over $100,000 cheaper than the national average as well. Plus, there’s something to be said for southern hospitality. Conde Nast ranked Savannah as one of the 10 friendliest cities in the country.

Things to Do in Georgia
Georgia has a lot going for it in terms of things to see and experience. It has its quaint small towns and sprawling, urban Atlanta. On a drive through Georgia’s countryside, be sure to stop for boiled peanuts or and sweet, Georgia peaches, from which the state got its nickname. There are beaches for water-lovers and the Appalachian mountains for hikers. For sports enthusiasts, the state boasts both college and professional teams. Georgia is home to football’s Atlanta Falcons, baseball’s Atlanta Braves, and basketball’s Atlanta Hawks. It’s also not far to get to many other southern cities, like Nashville or Memphis, when you need to get out of town for a bit. And let’s not forget that Atlanta boasts the world’s largest aquarium, where visitors can see amazing and massive whale sharks up-close.

One of the original 13 colonies, Georgia State has a long, complicated history. From the Confederate soldiers chiseled into Stone Mountain to the National POW Museum, there’s so much to history to experience. The Martin Luter King Jr. National Historical Park in Atlanta includes several landmarks in MLK, Jr.’s life and legacy, like his boyhood home or Ebenezer Baptist Church. The home of eccentric writer Flannery O’Connor, Andalusia Farm, is also open for tours. Make friends with the peacocks there or tap away on her typewriter. Or visitors can go even farther back in time at the Ocmulgee National Monument, where hundreds of Native American burial sites were excavated in the 1930s and are now on display in the museum.
