“I’m currently in the Graphic Design program at Full Sail University. I’ve never dreaded an education more than I have within this program. Going into it, I had already amassed a somewhat sizable pool of knowledge of design, but I was talked into attending just to get the paper. Worst decision of my life. Now I’m stuck in $20,000+ of debt and all I got out of it was a MacBook and a playlist of YouTube videos to watch. This system (if you can even call it that) of education that Full Sail has built, especially for their online students, is laughable. I’ve had professors flat out not respond to messages, I’ve had professors who did answer only to say “review the video and try again” to my questions, and I genuinely wish that I could get the year and a half of my life back that I devoted to this school just to be egregiously under-prepared for the job market after graduation. I haven’t even graduated yet, and I can just tell that I’m not going to be supported in any way, shape, or form. Opening the website every day just fills me with dread. I’d be fine if the system wasn’t built off of YouTube and the professors actually gave a damn, but… I definitely wasted my life and money here. Please don’t make the same mistake.”
“This school is a complete joke. The teachers do not know what they are doing and decide to teach you using youtube videos. They waste your time and don’t answer questions when you ask them. They also do not answer their emails or respond in a prompt manner. I had one class where the teacher did not even grade the assignments until 2 weeks after the class was finished and then noticed a bunch of other students leave the class I was in halfway through because they had failed and had to repeat. Avoid this school at all costs. All they care about is your money.”
“I greatly enjoyed my time at Full Sail and feel like I really got the education I paid for. I did the online Graphic Design BS program. I see a lot of negative reviews for Full Sail on this site. But, from my perspective, it was a great ride and well worth the money. I will say you have to be self-motivated and serious about your education if you are attempting any online program. Every month is a different class and the classes are taught by people who are or were in the Graphic Design field. That greatly helps because you know they know their stuff. I graduated Valedictorian and won Advanced Achievement as well as 5 Course Director Awards. I put in the hard work and Full Sail gave me every opportunity to (for a lack of a better term) sail. I ended up getting a job as Marketing Coordinator & Graphic Designer because of my education at Full Sail. If you are self-motivated I would recommend the Full Sail online programs 100%!”
“This entire school is a joke. There are maybe 3 teachers out of all of them that actually care to create their own coursework and tutorial videos. You could literally teach yourself the entirety of what they “teach” you via YouTube tutorials or Google. I have had plenty of teachers actually link to another professor’s work not even attached to this school on Lynda.com instead of teaching the course themselves. Responses are always delayed and unhelpful as well, and it’s generally as if the instructors don’t want to put the effort forth to teach you. Don’t waste your money here. It’s basically a scam and not worth it. Go somewhere else that will actually be worth your while and will actually TEACH you. I’m only going through with this so that I can get my degree since it’s too late for me to back out now.”
“I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone. I hated going here. The first year was okay, I kept up with the material as I was self taught because the teachers don’t exactly help you. Around the next year I started to get burnt out and things happened in my personal life to cause me to feel as if I really needed a break from school to collect myself and balance my life out. Every time I requested a month or 2 off for personal they requested “documentation” They request documentation for EVERYthing. Mind you I consistently tried and they just ask for documentation before they can give me time off. It was literally as something simple as someone passing away and they request a documentation of their funeral or some shit…like wtf. Telling a normal school or your job that if someone close passed away and you needed time off, they’d normally be generous enough to accept it and give you the time to mourn. Now I’m struggling in it because I wasn’t given the time I needed(my gpa is now effected) I can’t get out cuz I’m debt deep. The student liaison group pretends like they help you but in the end you feel like you didn’t get any help. Even after you submit documentation, it goes through a review by the “higher ups” to whether or not it was accepted. So if it gets denied then what do you do? You deal with it. No sympathy or humanity shown. I literally hate this school. TL;DR No breaks, you’re on your own & thanks for the money.”

“I Am Currently in school here at Full Sail University Online for Video Game Design. So far what i can say is it started out ok but after the first 3 months it quickly made it see like they didn’t give a crap about their students. Matter of fact I had one of the professors there tell me and some of my classmates that we will never be at his level. I am overall disgusted with what I have been put through and if I could have know what I was about to get myself into I would have gone somewhere else. This is utterly disappointing and if anyone ask me if I recommend it I would say no. If you wanted any chance of having a break for summer or much break at all during the year you are screwed because your not going to get it along with they give you pretty bad feedback on assignments you have turned in. So if you are thinking of going here quickly think of any other options because you can get a whole lot better education somewhere else and not have to deal with the big egos of the professors that team the curriculum at this school. I still have like 13/14 months left and I have thought about dropping out multiple times and going somewhere else to finish off my schooling because this is ridiculous.”

“Honestly, I could have learned everything for free on youtube without all of the stressful deadlines. Feels like I payed 11k for a macbook, and a few test trials of 3D softwares, and 7 months of stress and anxiety that literally made me sick. I know its supposed to be real-world experience but no starter job would expect a studio level product 3 days after they taught me how to do it.”
“Teachers are mostly made of school graduates instead of industry professionals. Teachers have given completely false information about the “real world” of film. Career development does absolutely nothing to help. They barely reached out to me once I graduated and every attempt I made to ask for advice has basically been to tell me I should have moved somewhere else or that I should work for free as an intern. Having a job after graduation was an incentive for me and I have not been able to find a job in the film industry for the past decade with this degree. I will be in student debt until I’m 38 and I’m paying 700+$ per month. You are better off looking at YouTube tutorials and finding work as a grip to get your foot in the door.”
“I was an online student receiving a Master’s degree. My instructors were very available and open to communicate if needed. The coursework was always clearly laid out as well as the expectations. I have a busy family, and this degree allowed me the opportunity to have an extreme amount of flexibility in order to make life work around my coursework. I did well and realized that I did better when I put forth great effort to stay connected with my instructors. I met my assignment deadlines and asked questions when I needed additional information. Some of the instructors went above and beyond in various ways. I believe the effort I put in coupled with the support of the staff helped me have an amazing experience. I believe that any student who is willing to put in the effort to get the work done will have a great experience. If you’re looking to do the minimum, not stay connected to your instructors, and not complete the weekly assignments by the deadline, you will not enjoy the experience. My personal experience overall was amazing! I’d definitely recommend to others who need a great amount of flexibility.”
