About Fresno State Nursing Program Requirements
The College of Health and Human Services Pre-Health Program provides support to First Time Freshman students exploring careers in health and human services professions with academic advising and career exploration. The Pre-Health Program allows students interested in Nursing, Kinesiology-Exercise Science, Health Science-Community Health and Social Work to explore these majors and career pathways. The Pre-Health Program, a three-semester program is for first time freshmen and will blend in all lower division general education. Students in the Pre-Health Program will enroll in HHS 18: Career Pathways in Health and Human Services in their first semester and HHS 100T: Career Exploration in Health and Human Services in their second semester to assist in the exploration process. During the second semester, an academic counselor will work with students to identify a major appropriate to their career path based on their career exploration.
If a student would like to continue in the Nursing track, beginning in their third semester, students apply to continue the last prerequisites. Students must meet a minimum of a 3.0 Pre-Requisite and Cumulative GPA in order to apply to continue to take the prerequisite courses. Each semester, students are evaluated for meeting the minimums to continue in the program. Once the following requirements are met, students may apply for admission to the Nursing program.

the six departments in the College of Health and Human Services.

As a graduate from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, you’ll be prepared for advanced nursing positions in direct patient care, education, and administration in hospitals, clinics, public health agencies and more. Nursing (RN to BSN)
This program is designed for students who have their RN or are currently working toward their RN. Program courses will broaden your academic foundation while focusing on clinical decision-making, critical thinking, holistic care and leadership instruction. Cohorts in the program are built around 12-20 students who progress through the program together, meeting for class one night per week over 18 months. As a graduate, you’ll be prepared for advanced nursing positions, and also qualified to pursue graduate studies in nursing—with priority admission into Fresno Pacific University’s MSN program.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN, FNP)
You’ll gain hands-on training with a wide range of complex and varied patients across family practice, women’s health, pediatrics, and primary care, equipping you for national FNP certification exams through either AANPCB or ANCC. With classes focusing on assessment, prevention and instruction, cohorts meet face-to-face one afternoon per week. An innovative FNP PREP residency program offers hands-on clinical experience. Curriculum meets AACN standards, giving you a broad education, applicable to today’s evolving healthcare field.

Admission requirements
Admission to the BSN program at FPU is a 2 step process. First, students must meet the admissions requirements and be admitted to the University. Admitted freshmen students will then enroll in 2 years of general education requirements and nursing prerequisite classes.
During the second year, students must apply and submit the requirements for the BSN program. Admission to the university does not guarantee admission to the BSN program. The BSN nursing admission committee will be looking at performance in program course prerequisites, ATI TEAS scores, and the nursing application along with a written statement, in-person interviews, and other academic information. You must be able to pass all criminal history checks and medical and drug tests.
Admission to the BSN program is competitive and limited by the number of available clinical spots. Transfer students may apply for direct entry starting for Fall 2022 (our first year of clinicals).
