Department Of Defense Entry Level Jobs
The Department of Defense (DoD) is the military department within the United States federal government that deals with national security and foreign affairs. The DoD is responsible for protecting the country’s national security interests, which includes fighting wars and deterring possible threats to U.S. security both overseas and at home.
The DoD employs more than 2 million people who are organized into three main branches: Army, Navy and Air Force. Each branch has their own responsibilities within the DoD and are led by a Secretary of Defense, who oversees all three branches.
The Army is responsible for land operations while the Navy is responsible for sea operations as well as providing protection from any threats that may occur on water or in space. The Air Force provides air support to both Army and Navy personnel during battle situations, as well as providing air support during peacetime situations such as natural disasters or terrorist attacks on American soil.
