An introductory paragraph should be short, sweet and to the point. It’s always a good idea to reference the job description in your cover letter, even if it seems redundant. This shows that you have taken note of what they are looking for in an applicant and that you are eager to meet their needs.
If possible, mention how you learned about the position. If you found out about this opportunity through a friend or family member who works at the company, be sure to include their name and title so that they can vouch for your character and capabilities as a potential employee.
It’s also helpful if there is any connection between yourself and the organization where you want to intern with no experience whatsoever. For example: “I am currently studying computer science at XYZ University in Boston…” or “My father is an executive at ABC Corporation … I often had conversations with him about his work…” You get my drift here!
