About Milligan College
Milligan College is a private institution that was founded in 1866. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 880, its setting is suburban, and the campus size is 181 acres. Milligan College is a Christian-affiliated college located in northeastern Tennessee. Students admitted to the college have the opportunity to choose from more than 100 majors and more than 40 different student clubs and organizations. More than 70 percent of the student body lives on campus, and every student is permitted to have a car on campus. Students who attend Milligan College are required to participate in the college’s Spiritual Formation Program, which involves accumulating 150 credits by attending chapel, lectures, campus ministry programs, community service programs and other events during their undergraduate studies. Known as the Buffaloes, Milligan College’s sports teams compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Students interested in outdoor activities are only steps away from many recreational opportunities in southern Appalachia, including boating, water skiing, snow skiing, white water rafting, fishing and hiking. Milligan College’s athletic programs have won more than 40 conference titles and made more than 40 national tournament appearances during the past decade. Notable alumni of the college include former NBA head coach Del Harris and former U.S. Rep. David Davis.
