Are you a nursing student and need help with the transition to clinical nursing? While in theory you may be able to learn medicine by reading books, nothing can prepare you for real life patient encounters like clinical experience. Unfortunately not all nursing schools offer clinical experience as part of their program so it’s useful to have some sort of sample real life patient encounter to study. That’s where innovative and forward-thinking institutions such as Sam Houston State University come in.

The Sam Houston State University’s College of Nursing is a new nursing program designed to educate and train a new type of nurse with a focus on leadership skills, management, and technology. The College of Nursing has carved out a national reputation as one of the most innovative nursing programs in the country.

Program Overview

The demand for skilled nurses is greater than ever. Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares students to enter the fast-growing health care field through coursework that is both theoretical and practical in a wide variety of clinical settings. Graduates of the program are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN provides the professional credentials to practice as an entry-level registered nurse.
