Introduction
The prospect of adding to your student debt pile can seem daunting. And if you’re an aspiring vet, this is a particularly intimidating scenario. After all, in addition to the tuition itself, many veterinary schools charge lab and technology fees that can raise the total by 50% or more. It’s no wonder that so many vets go into the profession carrying massive student loan debts — sometimes upwards of $150,000!
But what if I told you that there was a way to attend vet school without having to mortgage your future? Well, there is: attend an international veterinary school. Many of these schools are public institutions in their countries (meaning they receive government funding just like American vet schools), but because of exchange rates and other factors, they cost less than half as much as their U.S.-based counterparts. That said, it’s important to realize that while the tuition at these schools might be cheaper, students will still have to cover living expenses and other fees — including flights back and forth from home during vacations and breaks.

University of Sydney
University of Sydney
Ranked as one of the top universities in Australia, the University of Sydney offers a broad range of courses. The university is located in Sydney, Australia and has a good reputation amongst students, academics and employers alike. However, it is not included in any top 100 universities list because it lacks the international recognition that other Australian universities enjoy. For this reason alone we would not recommend applying to study at this school unless you have already studied there or are willing to travel abroad for your education
Murdoch University
Murdoch University is a public research university in Perth, Western Australia. It is the state’s third-oldest university and has an annual turnover of $1.71 billion as of 2017, making it one of the largest universities in Australia.
Murdoch University was named after Sir Walter Murdoch—a prominent Australian journalist and publisher who was involved in many early 20th century educational initiatives before his death in 1952. The university was established by an act of Parliament on June 13, 1971 as a new institution to provide higher education courses beyond secondary school level for the people of Western Australia (WA).
Massey University
The University is located in New Zealand. This is a private university which does not charge tuition fees for international students. There are no scholarships or bursaries either, so you will need to pay for your living expenses independently.
You will need to arrange your own flights to and from New Zealand, as well as accommodation while you study there (although the university can point you in the direction of suitable housing). Massey also recommends that students apply for student health insurance before they start their studies if they are not already covered by their home country’s system of healthcare.
As well as these core necessities, Massey suggests budgeting around $3,000 NZD per month (about $2850 USD) on food and miscellaneous items such as personal care products and laundry services during your time at the university; this figure includes some spending money too!
University of Melbourne
Melbourne is a great city in which to study, live and work. It’s also a fantastic place to start a business. Melbourne is one of the world’s most livable cities, with a great climate and an abundance of things to do. Located on the south-east coast of Australia, it has an international airport that serves many destinations around the world.
Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine
The Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine is located in Belgium, but welcomes international applicants. It’s a private university and a research university, so it offers bachelor’s degrees in both clinical and preclinical health sciences, master’s programs in tropical medicine, public health and healthcare management.
The school also offers additional programs such as several master’s degrees (in subjects like industrial engineering), PhD programs and short courses for professionals working or studying in the field of tropical medicine or related topics.
The university is based on four campuses – Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent/Mons-Gorinchem (Netherlands) as well as Kinshasa (Democratic Republic Of Congo).
University of Queensland
The University of Queensland is one of the top universities in Australia.
Located in Brisbane, it’s very accessible by air or car. The city itself has most things you’d expect from a big city: good restaurants, theaters, malls and other shops. You’ll be able to take trips to some nearby places like the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast without much trouble.
The university has excellent facilities for students including libraries with plenty of study space and good computer labs where you’re able to use your own laptop if you prefer working on them instead of using computers at the library (that can get crowded during peak times). One of the top universities in Europe, Free University of Berlin is a public research university located in Berlin, Germany. It is the largest university in Germany and one of the largest universities in Europe.

If you are considering going to an international vet school, you need to be prepared for the expenses that come with it. There is no question that it will cost more than a domestic (US or Canadian) vet school, but this is also because of the quality of education and training that comes with such programs.

- Time – How much time do I have left until graduation from my undergraduate program? What kind of requirements does my home university have for transfer credits if I decide not to continue there after graduation from a 4-year accredited institution like [school name] but instead go abroad for additional training in veterinary medicine related subjects like clinical sciences, pathology etc.? Can these courses count towards part-time/full-time studies towards graduate level degrees such as postgraduate diplomas/masters degrees in veterinary science at institutions around the world where English may be spoken but not necessarily used as native language by everyone involved including lecturers themselves!
