Leading Through Analytics & Innovation
What does it take to succeed in today’s complex business world? Great ideas driven by innovative thinking and data analytics.
At the Lubar School, everything we do is infused with this mindset — in the classroom, in the cutting-edge research of our talented faculty, and in our partnerships with organizations around the region. It’s our commitment to advancing business and developing the next generation of business leaders.
A campus visit is the best way to see UWM. Talk with an admissions advisor, meet current students and visit a residence hall. After the tour, check out Lake Michigan, just minutes away. Stroll through nearby neighborhoods on your way to cafes, shops, theaters and the beach.
We are currently offering limited in-person campus tours in addition to a rich array of visit options. Whether you’re in high school, transferring from another university, or planning to finish a degree you started years ago, there is a UWM visit experience for you.
Campus Visit for Master’s & PhD students
Whether you are interested in a master’s program or obtaining your doctorate, the Graduate School can build a visit around your questions, including faculty interviews and lab tours.
The Graduate School hosts many events throughout the year. Lectures, professional development workshops and social events bring our graduate students together.
Sitting on the coast of beautiful Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is a big, bustling city with a friendly, small town feel. Milwaukee celebrates its history with cultural festivals throughout the year, while it invests in its future with urban renewal and water technology. Come see for yourself what makes our city special.
Why We Love Milwaukee
Mark your summer calendar for outdoor music festivals, a 24-hour bike race, sunny days on the beach and a small army of food trucks. In fall, catch a movie at the Milwaukee Film Festival or tour some of the city’s oldest architecture during Doors Open. When winter hits, go ice-skating downtown, then warm up at the botanical domes. No matter what the weather is like, there’s always something to see or do in Milwaukee.
Career & Connections
One of the key advantages UW-Milwaukee students have is the city and the strong career network it provides. In fact, 2,808 companies actively recruit interns and employees from UWM each year. Many of those internships turn into full-time jobs for students after they’ve graduated. And because 74 percent of UWM alumni live in Wisconsin, all of our students graduate with a valuable, career-building resource they can rely on for years to come.
Our university also gives back to the community through volunteer opportunities, service-learning courses and leadership programs. Not only does this help make the city of Milwaukee a better place to live, it provides UWM students with real-world experience and more opportunities to make community connections.
UW-Milwaukee is nestled in the heart of the city’s upper east side, a residential, tree-lined community just five minutes from Bradford Beach. We’re near a huge range of great restaurants, small businesses, independent movie theaters and plenty of coffee shops. Plus, it’s easy to get around, whether that means renting a Bublr bike, hopping on a bus or enjoying the sights on foot. Here are a few of our favorite neighborhood hot spots:
Just south of campus is Downer Avenue, where you can stop for pizza at Pizza Man, see what’s new at Downer Theater and browse the bookshelves at Boswell Book Company — all on one block!
Milwaukee’s most eclectic street, Brady Street covers eight blocks of diverse restaurants (from Thai to tacos), colorful shops and historic businesses that reflect Brady Street’s cultural heritage, like Glorioso’s Italian Market.
Five minutes southeast of campus is Bradford Beach, a popular spot for sunbathers, volleyball players and anyone who wants a refreshing dip in Lake Michigan.
Take a nature walk, go for a run, enjoy a picnic, visit North Point Lighthouse or just sit back, relax and take it all in. Lake Park is the perfect oasis in the city.
