West Los Angeles College
West Los Angeles College (WLA) is one of two Los Angeles Community College District campuses located in the Westside and a great place to begin your nursing education. Located in Culver City, WLA is within close proximity to Loyola Marymount University, UCLA, USC and Santa Monica College. The college offers Associate Degree Nursing programs that can be completed in 1-2 years.
The Associate Degree Nursing program at West Los Angeles College consists of four semesters that are each 20 weeks long: fall semester (September-December), winter semester (January-April), spring semester (May-August) and summer session 1 (May-July). The curriculum covers general science topics such as anatomy and physiology; behavioral sciences including psychology; communication skills; health assessment techniques; pharmacology; laboratory procedures and clinical practicum experiences in hospitals or clinics where students can apply knowledge learned throughout their studies.

The California Board of Registered Nursing maintains a list of accredited programs, but there are plenty of other options too. One school that’s well worth checking out is El Camino College-Compton Center. This LACC program offers both an associate degree and certificate in nursing. These programs are accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing and are designed to prepare students for entry into the workforce as RNs or as LPNs (licensed practical nurses).

Los Angeles Harbor College
