If you are keen to work as a psychologist, this degree will give you a thorough grounding in clinical, developmental, biological, cognitive, social, and organizational psychology.
You will learn how to use interpersonal skills and the principles of counseling to help people with personal, health, vocational and social difficulties.
You will also learn how to apply psychological theories to topics such as thinking and perceiving, motivation, stress, health and criminal activity.
In the fourth year, you will begin formal research training and be introduced to professional psychological practice. You will complete an honors research project and study four core courses. The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is offered full-time via blended mode at the Gold Coast and Mount Gravatt campuses. You would generally expect to commit 100 – 150 hours per trimester to study for each course you are enrolled in. This would involve attending scheduled (i.e. set timetabled) online lectures and on-campus small group active learning classes, as well as engaging in asynchronous (non-timetabled) online learning modules and independent study and assessment completion. Scheduled classes may be set during the day and evening throughout the week.

Work-integrated learning activities (professional placements) integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in the degree program demonstrates Griffith’s commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life.
In this program, you will spend time in the work/professional environment undertaking placements at various locations. Placements may be outside of the Brisbane metropolitan/Gold Coast area including northern New South Wales and (by negotiation) interstate or overseas.

Permanent resident status
If an undergraduate student obtains permanent resident status in Australia after commencing study in a program, and the student can provide evidence of permanent resident status prior to the census date (of the trimester in which they are enrolled), the student will be provided with a domestic fee-paying place.
The student may then apply for a Commonwealth supported place at the next admission period provided that the student satisfies the conditions for transfer from a domestic fee-paying place to a Commonwealth-supported place as set out in the Undergraduate Programs Admission Policy.
If a postgraduate student obtains permanent resident status in Australia after commencing study in a program, and the student can provide evidence of permanent resident status prior to the census date (of the trimester in which they are enrolled), the student will automatically be considered for a Commonwealth supported place subject to availability.
If a research student obtains permanent resident status in Australia after commencing study in a program, and the student can provide evidence of permanent resident status prior to the census date (of the trimester in which they are enrolled), the student will automatically be considered for a Commonwealth Government Research Training Program (RTP) Fee Offset or a domestic fee-paying place as applicable for the program.
