Average salary for graphic designers

In 2008-2009, the average salary for a graphic designer was between $30,000-$35,000. While declaring your education and experience on your resume will not guarantee you a specific amount of money, it can help get you a job that fits your career goals. The more education and experience you have, the higher salary you can obtain. Those with a master’s degree often earn more than those with only a bachelor’s degree. Likewise, employees with 10 years experience under their belt often earn more than those who are just starting out in the field.

The average salary for graphic designers is $60,000.

This information is based on a survey of graphic designers conducted by the Professional Graphic Designers Association in 2020.

Average salary for graphic designers

So there you have it. The average salary of a graphic designer is $39,020 according to PayScale’s data. This number is slightly higher than the Bureau of Labor Statistics which says that the median annual wage for graphic designers was $36,420 in January 2015. An economist might tell you that the best way to increase your wages is to specialize, become an expert in your field, and start your own business. But, at least if you want to be a working graphic designer, you don’t need to worry about those statistics right now. With just a few years of experience under your belt and some hard work invested into your portfolio and skill set, you should be making upwards of $40k a year. And once you have been working for a few years and have had a chance to rack up more experience in the workplace and/or pick up additional skills (like coding), you will likely find that your career becomes more lucrative than ever before. So if you are considering becoming a graphic designer and are worried about starting off on what might seem like less-than-ideal wages, realize that with time and dedication, there’s no reason why you can’t quickly move into six-figure salary territory (or better).

The salary range for graphic designers is broad. But on average, the median salary of a graphic designer in the United States is $46,164 per year. That’s 12% more than the median annual wage of all other occupations combined. And while it certainly helps to have a college degree in order to secure higher-paying positions as a graphic designer, your actual performance and skills can account for quite a bit as well.

Graphic designers are professionals who create visual designs for a variety of purposes, whether it be printing logos onto t-shirts, designing websites, or developing brochures. These professionals, based on their education and experience levels, can earn salaries that range from $35,000 per year to over $100,000 per year. This difference in income is mainly due to the fact that some graphic designers work more freelance hours than others, and take jobs that pay higher hourly wages.
